A Pair of Arrests in the Aftermath of London Heathrow Irritant Spray Incident
An additional two individuals are now in custody in connection with a robbery at Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals sustained injuries by what is thought to be pepper spray, according to police.
A man, 24, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area on suspicion of robbery and assault and a woman, 23 was arrested for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. They both are still being held, authorities confirmed.
The arrests follow an investigation into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the attack, two women had stolen from them their suitcases upon exiting a parking garage elevator.
A three-year-old girl was among the injured in the event. A total of five individuals went to hospital for treatment and have since been released.
Police arrested a 31-year-old man on suspicion of theft and assault close to the location. He was subsequently released pending further inquiries while inquiries continue.
Authorities were alerted at about 8:10 in the morning GMT following reports of a number of individuals injured by a noxious substance thought to be an irritant spray.
The assault - which authorities stated was isolated and not being treated as terrorism - caused delays to rail services and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the T3 car park for a short time.
